here we go, one through ten...

  1. Hang Me Up to Dry- Cold War Kids
love the beat, could just scream this song 24/7. “im pearly like the whites, the whites of your eyes”

       2. All the Young Dudes- Mott the Hoople

it’s so iconic, almost like the beatles, and who does’t love a good juno reference. (that's stupid to say, though, no care given...) but really, when written by bowie, you can't go wrong. "oh is there concrete all around, or is it in my head". beautiful melody that just makes you want to be a young dude.

       3. Crystal- New Order

there is a “fake band”  named ‘the killers’ pretending to be new order in the music video for this song, and that, ladies and gentleman, is where the killers got the name for their band. plus, the lyrics!: “here comes love, it’s like honey, you can’t buy it with money, you’re not alone anymore, whenever you’re here with me, you shock me to the core” wow.

       4. November Blue- The Avett Brothers

this is how i feel right now, you’ll get it. no one does folk like the avett brothers. “i’m killing myself thinking, i’m falling like the leaves.” sort of.

       5. Wolf Like Me- TV On The Radio

rockin’ song (so corny of right?) anyways, “open my hands and let them weave onto yours” the imagery in this song...

       6. Furr- Blitzen Trapper

religion. “you can wear your fur like a river on fire, but you better be sure if you’re makin’ god a liar, im a rattlesnake babe, im like fuel on fire, so if you’re gonna get made don’t be afraid of what you’ve learned”

       7. Christ Jesus- Deer Tick

i think this is one of the most powerful songs i have ever heard. so simple, so beautiful, and so honest. it’s probably a good thing i cant figure out how to play it on the piano, because i’d just sit there and kill myself with it, over and over again. “christ jesus, as im drowning, i struggle to breathe, it’s your face i dont see”

       8. Under Pressure- David Bowie/Queen

call me cliche, but how can you say no to some classic bowie/queen? “its the terror of knowing what this world is about, watching some good friends screaming ‘let me out’” too good.

       9. Two- The Antlers

forget any mention to instrumentals, such moving lyrics. this kind of a story is so powerful. i can hardly pick a favorite lyric... “you had a new dream, it was more like a nightmare. you were just a little kid and they cut your hair, then they stuck you in machines, you came so close to dying, they should have listened, they thought that you were lying.”

       10. Rebellion (Lies)- The Arcade Fire

makes you want to rebel? “come on baby in our dreams, we can live on misbehavior”

  1. i'll start this off by saying that i just want to be a young dude. young dude. what a ring that has.
crystal makes me so sad because i am not enchanted with love anymore. it sucks so hard, and this song just makes it all the more prevalent. i don't know. i hope this makes sense??
november blue- i think you showed me this song before? it still breaks my heart. and it is so beautiful.
i will say that blitzen trapper's voice(s) are a little unappealing for me. but i love the lyrics.
contrary to this, deer tick's voice is so fucking good. it's so... raw, i guess. it really echoes what i'm feeling... i am losing my faith. i don't know. "christ jesus, have you seen us? down on our hands and our knees?" just i guess this time i got knocked down and i feel like he isn't there to help me up. and the only thing i want is bruno. he is my christ. terrible, but true.
i love #10. always love the arcade fire. what's the music video where the army is taking over a town and the kids are riding around on their bikes? that's my fave of theirs, but i can't recall what it''s called. >.<
i love that you're doing this. music has always been my coping mechanism, and listening to music is so sensory- any song tied to any memory will instantly bring back feelings fromt hat moment. (make sense?? i dk)
but forever these songs will be connected to you and me. and any time i listen to these songs in the future, i will recall these moments.
